Fall Classic Game 7 Draws 51 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting extended contest where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined 51M watchers across the US, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic finale since the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

Last Saturday’s epic contest drew 27.33M viewers on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally is the most-watched World Series game after the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a 16% increase over the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 landed in 13th place.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English program in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience increases for two consecutive years.

Including the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the total US viewership was 16.1 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M viewers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
